UPDATE: CSX Customer Advisory – CSX Activates Hurricane Operational Plan

CSX operations is continuing to monitor the path of Hurricane Matthew and has made extensive preparations for the effects of the storm.  The extent of the potential impact this system will have on CSX operations is not known at this time.  Several division operating departments are making tactical plan changes and curtailments to proactively move as much freight as possible to minimize the impact of possible delays.
 
The Hurricane Action Plan includes, but is not limited to, the following precautions and actions:
 

  • Operations on the main line from Auburndale, FL through Orlando, FL and Sanford, FL areas into Jacksonville, FL will be suspended by late Thursday afternoon.
  • The main line from Jacksonville, FL to Savannah, GA will be curtailed Friday morning.
  • The main line from Savannah, GA to Pembroke, NC has been reduced to passenger and time critical operations only.
  • Switching operations in Savannah, GA, Charleston, SC and Wilmington, NC have been halted until after the storm passes.

During this process, the company’s priorities are the safety of employees, infrastructure and meeting the needs of customers.  The CSX Customer Service Center will remain open throughout the duration of the storm to answer calls regarding individual customer issues.  We are working with customers to best accommodate requests in anticipation of storm-related disruptions to the rail network.  More updates will be provided as CSX continues to closely monitor the path and intensity of Hurricane Matthew which is predicted to significantly impact the southeastern United States coastline late this week and the Mid-Atlantic into the weekend.
