CUSTOMER SERVICE BULLETIN - Isaac Update

September 5, 2012

Working with connecting rail carriers, CSX continues to temporarily adjust its network plan to redirect rail traffic around the Gulf Coast line that was impacted by Hurricane Isaac last week.

CSX has established temporary interchanges at Memphis, Tenn., and Birmingham, Ala., for rail traffic that normally operates over the New Orleans gateway. As previously communicated, the changed routes, coupled with backlogged traffic that was halted during Isaac’s landfall, could lead to delays of 72 hours or more for shipments that would normally operate over the New Orleans gateway and the Gulf line.

CSX’s Gentilly Yard at New Orleans was not damaged significantly and remains operational, along with the intermodal terminal.

Inspections following the storm revealed significant damage from flooding and debris on a 15-mile stretch of the line east of New Orleans.  This could take several weeks to repair.  Local service has been maintained to customers located along the line.

For more information on shipments, customers can contact the CSX Customer Service Center via ShipCSX’s Problem Resolution Tool or by calling 1-877-ShipCSX (1-877-744-7279), prompt #5, then prompt #6. Intermodal customers should call 1-800-542-2754, prompt #2.

CSX thanks its customers and connecting railroads for their patience and support as the company expedites service as safely and swiftly as possible.
