Customer Service Advisory - Progress Continuing Despite Expectations for Another Winter Storm

CSX has made significant progress during the past two weeks in improving network fluidity, but yet another winter storm is beginning to impact the northern region today. This latest storm is already bringing snow to the Chicago area with forecast accumulations of 6 to 20 inches between Chicago and Syracuse, NY. CSX expects another warming trend behind the storm so any further impact to operations should last only a short time.

Progress over the past two weeks includes:

CSX is current with interchanges to and from most of the other rail carriers through the Chicago gateway, with remaining interchanges very close to current. This progress has freed up resources to support continued improvement following this latest storm; however, locomotive and car supply remain constrained on the entire network. CSX continues to experience congestion in several processing yards and has deployed additional management and resources to these locations. While significant progress has been made, there is still work to do to return to the high levels of service that CSX customers expect.
