CUSTOMER SERVICE BULLETIN - Isaac Update Friday Noon

August 31, 2012

In the Gulf Coast region, CSX continues to mobilize crews and phase in operations where it is safe to do so.

While inspections continue, most of the company’s rail infrastructure appears to be largely intact, including the Gentilly Yard in New Orleans.  However, about a 15-mile stretch of the line east of New Orleans will require restoration over the next several weeks.  There are no customers located on this stretch, but it is a key corridor for shipments interchanged with western carriers.  As it has done in the past, CSX is working with other railroads to re-route traffic and serve customers’ needs in this region.

Due to the overall situation in the region, customers can expect delays of 72 hours or more for some shipments as operations are restored, alternative routes are used, and traffic flows normalize.

CSX will update you as the storm passes through the area, and restoration plans are complete. For more specific information on shipments, customers can contact the CSX Customer Service Center via ShipCSX's Problem Resolution Tool or by calling 1-877-ShipCSX (1-877-744-7279), prompt #5, then prompt #6. Intermodal customers needing more information can call 1-800-542-2754, prompt #2.

CSX thanks customers and other stakeholders for their continued patience and support as we expedite service as safely and swiftly as possible.
