CSX Service Bulletin - CSX Responds to Derailment South of Nashville, Tenn.

October 10, 2011 – 10:30 a.m. – The derailment early Monday of approximately 16 rail cars in a train near Cornersville, Tenn., is expected to delay some customer shipments.

Re-railing and track repair equipment and materials, along with personnel, have been dispatched from Nashville, Memphis and Nicholasville, Ky., to assist in the cleanup. Customers with shipments on the Birmingham, Ala.-Nashville line should expect delays of 36-48 hours.

The northbound train, consisting of 58 rail cars, derailed about 16 of those rail cars around 4:50 a.m. EST. There were no injuries, and an investigation into the cause of the derailment is under way. Future updates, including an estimated time of the line re-opening, are planned as more information is known.

The company’s Customer Service Center is coordinating with affected shippers and receivers. Customers should contact the Customer Service Center via ShipCSX’s Problem Resolution tool or by calling 1-877-SHIPCSX, prompts 5, then 6.
