CSX continues to closely monitor severe weather across the eastern United States following Winter Storm Fern, which has brought snow, ice, freezing rain, and extremely cold temperatures throughout our network. We are actively working to fully restore operations; however, customers should expect service delays in areas most affected by the storm. Transit times may be extended as we adjust operations to protect the safety of our employees, our network, and the communities we serve.
REGIONAL IMPACTS
CSX Transportation
Weather conditions vary significantly across the CSX network:
Midwest Region: Bitter temperatures continue across St. Louis, Avon, Cincinnati, and Chicago, creating ongoing challenges for crews and equipment.
Southwest Region: Nashville, Memphis, and Bruceton are experiencing extreme cold, substantial ice, and snow. CSX Engineering crews have already deployed nearly 40 generators and cleared more than 500 downed trees and other debris across the territory to support restoration efforts.
Some terminals and corridors are operating at reduced capacity due to road conditions, crew availability, or localized weather impacts. CSX is actively coordinating across regions to balance resources and keep critical freight moving safely wherever conditions allow.
Intermodal and TRANSFLO Operations
All CSX intermodal terminals have reopened and are operational.
