CSX Customer Advisory: Potential Weather-related Shipment Delays in West Virginia

August 16, 2026

CSX is working to restore normal operations in portions of West Virginia after severe storms moved through the region on Sunday, Aug. 16, causing widespread flooding, downed trees, washouts, and power outages.

Multiple track issues are being addressed across the Kanawha, New River, and Allegheny subdivisions, including washouts and debris obstructions. Access to some impacted locations remains limited due to flooded roadways, including along the I-64 corridor.

CSX teams are assessing damage and making repairs as conditions allow. Customers with shipments moving through the affected area should expect delays while restoration work continues. Safety remains our top focus, and normal train operations will resume only after infrastructure has been inspected and determined safe for service.

We will continue to provide updates as needed. Please monitor our CSX Customer Advisories and Intermodal-specific Real-Time Service Advisories for relevant information. Additionally, please notify your CSX contact of any site closures or changes in local service needs due to the weather.

The Customer Solutions team is available to answer questions regarding your shipments. To connect with Customer Solutions, call 1-877-ShipCSX (1-877-744-7279).

Customers may also submit a Shipment Problem Resolution request via our website www.shipcsx.com.
