Operations at the CSX Curtis Bay Coal Piers in Baltimore, Md., have been suspended temporarily following a transfer tower failure Thursday. While Engineering teams assess the extent of the damage, coal shipments to Curtis Bay are being rerouted and customers are being notified.
Damage was centered in the five-story tower that is part of the on-ground storage and vessel-loading system at the terminal. No injuries were reported. The cause of the failure remains under investigation.
