Railroads Reach Tentative Agreements with More Unions

Since the PEB recommendations were released on Saturday, November 5, the railroads and unions have been meeting in Washington to work towards agreements.

The National Carriers Conference Committee (NCCC) announced Tuesday, November 15, that they have reached tentative agreements with most of the unions in the Transportation Communications Union (TCU) coalition including the Transportation Communications Union, the Brotherhood of Railway Carmen, the International Association of Machinists and the Transport Workers Union. Earlier today, the railroads reached a tentative agreement with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

The tentative agreements track the recommendations of the PEB without any changes. We anticipate they will be presented to union members for ratification before the end of the year.

The tentative agreements, coupled with the ratified agreement the railroads already have with the UTU, cover more than half of our employees.

Negotiations are continuing with the other TCU unions and the Rail Labor Bargaining Coalition (RLBC), which includes the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees, Brotherhood of Railway Signalmen, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen, Sheet Metal Workers International Union, National Conference of Firemen and Oilers, and International Brotherhood of Boilermakers.
