CSXT HDF Fuel Surcharge/Fuel Index Rate Adjustment Update for January 1, 2022

Dear CSX Transportation Customer,

Following are the CSX Transportation HDF Fuel Surcharge (8662) / Fuel Index Rate Adjustment (8661) amounts effective January 1, 2022.

CSXT HDF/Mileage Based Fuel Surcharge (8662)

CSX will eliminate fuel surcharges on all public tariffs, effective January 1. CSXT Fuel Surcharge Publication 8662, which applied a mileage-based fuel surcharge on our public rates when the price per gallon of highway diesel fuel exceeded 374 cents, will be discontinued as of the effective date.

All public tariffs will be updated to reflect the surcharge elimination, although the process of revising the documents may extend into the new year. No surcharge will be applied as of January 1, even if a rate document has yet to be updated.

CSXT HDF/Mileage Based Fuel Index Rate Adjustment (8661)

The highway diesel fuel/mileage based fuel index rate adjustment is published in CSXT 8661 and applies to all line haul freight rates and charges set forth in contracts, and other pricing documents that reference CSXT Publication 8661 dated on or after April 23, 2007.

The CSXT HDF/mileage based fuel index rate adjustment of 41 cents per mile, which became effective December 1, 2021, will change to 44 cents per mile for shipments having a bill of lading dated on or after January 1, 2022.

Following are the 8661 CSXT HDF/mileage based fuel index rate adjustments:

The fuel surcharge (public rates - 8662) and fuel index rate adjustment (contract rates - 8661) amounts are based on the "HDF Average Price" of 372.7 cents per gallon for the calendar month of November 2021. The "HDF Average Price" is on U. S. No. 2 Diesel Retail Sales by All Sellers, as determined and published by the U. S. Department of Energy, Energy Information Administration at www.eia.doe.gov.
