CSXT HDF Fuel Index Rate Adjustment Update for May 1, 2023

Dear CSX Transportation Customer,

Following is the CSX Transportation HDF Fuel Index Rate Adjustment (8661) amount effective May 1, 2023.

CSXT HDF/Mileage Based Fuel Index Rate Adjustment (8661)

The highway diesel fuel/mileage based fuel index rate adjustment is published in CSXT 8661 and applies to all line haul freight rates and charges set forth in contracts, and other pricing documents that reference CSXT Publication 8661 dated on or after April 23, 2007.

The CSXT HDF/mileage based fuel index rate adjustment of 61 cents per mile, which became effective April 1, 2023, will change to 56 cents per mile for shipments having a bill of lading dated on or after May 1, 2023.

Following are the 8661 CSXT HDF/mileage based fuel index rate adjustments:

82 cents per mile effective January 1, 2023
68 cents per mile effective February 1, 2023
65 cents per mile effective March 1, 2023
61 cents per mile effective April 1, 2023
56 cents per mile effective May 1, 2023

The fuel index rate adjustment (contract rates - 8661) amount is based on the "HDF Average Price" of 421.1 cents per gallon for the calendar month of March 2023. The "HDF Average Price" is on U. S. No. 2 Diesel Retail Sales by All Sellers, as determined and published by the U. S. Department of Energy, Energy Information Administration at www.eia.doe.gov.
