March 24, 2023 – CSX has released its 2022 Annual Report, reflecting a year in which the company achieved significant financial, safety, service and workforce objectives.

“Across all stakeholder groups — customers, employees, investors and the public — we achieved important objectives and overcame significant challenges,” said CSX President and Chief Executive Officer Joe Hinrichs in his message to shareholders “For the first time since the pandemic disrupted supply chains and tightened labor markets, we re-established the momentum that will enable our company to fully realize the potential of our proven operating model centered on safety, service, efficiency and people.”

Annual revenue increased 19%, to $14.9 billion, and by year end the company’s service performance was approaching record levels, setting the stage for volume growth driven by market share gains versus trucks as well as new rail-served manufacturing plants.

Under the leadership of Hinrichs, who joined the company in September 2022, CSX also strengthened its focus on labor-management relations and building a ONE CSX workplace culture centered on communication, collaboration and appreciation of every employee’s contribution to serving customers.

“Visiting more than 20 locations in my first 100 days, I met a workforce ready and eager to provide the best service product our industry has ever seen,” Hinrichs said. “With great optimism and as ONE CSX, we will deliver.”
