CSX is monitoring the progress of Tropical Storm Ida and making preparations for an expected landfall along the northern Gulf Coast. The storm continues to weaken, however heavy rains are expected along its' path.

Last night, the flood gates were closed in New Orleans. As a result, westbound traffic for the KCS, CN, BN and UP (via New Orleans) is being held in various Southeastern yards and will proceed once the gateway opens. Eastbound cars coming to CSX from these carriers over New Orleans will not interchange until the threat of flooding has passed and the flood gates are re-opened.

CSX is taking precautions along the expected path of the storm, including securing equipment, staging repair materials, and working with affected customers to move or secure rail equipment.
