Customer Service Bulletin -- ILA Contingency Planning

December 21, 2012

CSX Transportation (CSXT) continues to work with customers, port authorities, terminals and connecting rail carriers to prepare for a potential strike by the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA), which could occur as early as December 29 upon expiration of the ILA contract extension.  Customers doing business at U.S. East or Gulf Coast ports are urged to contact CSX to plan any specific shipment diversions.

In the event of an ILA strike, CSXT’s scheduled trains and CSX Intermodal Terminals, Inc.-owned facilities will continue to operate. CSXT would, to the extent possible, support intermodal and other customer needs. At the same time, unpredictable labor activity could temporarily slow or otherwise impede the ability to serve certain facilities and perform certain operations in what would likely be fluid circumstances.

For more information, customers can contact their sales representative, the CSX Customer Service Center via ShipCSX’s Problem Resolution Tool or by calling 1-877-ShipCSX (1-877-744-7279), prompt #5, then prompt #6. Intermodal customers should call 1-800-542-2754, prompt #2.
