Customer Service Advisory - CSX Monitors CP Strike

February 15, 2015

CSX is closely monitoring the effects of a Teamsters Canada Rail Conference-Running Trades (engineers and conductors) strike against CP in Canada, but no significant operational impacts or secondary labor actions on CSX have occurred. The strike began early today although CP did reach a tentative agreement with Unifor, which represents its shop crafts.

CN, meanwhile, has reached a tentative agreement with the TCRC-Running Trades, and its negotiations continue with Unifor.

CP reports that it is using management crews across its network to keep priority traffic moving, and CSX is assessing any effects on CSX-CP interline traffic.

As acknowledged in CSX’s previous customer advisory, the strike could result in halted or delayed shipments to and from Canada, particularly at Buffalo, N.Y., and Detroit, Mich., where CSX interchanges with CP. CSX has contingency plans in place, and will provide updates as necessary.

Customers with questions about shipments can contact the Customer Service Center via www.shipcsx.com or by calling 1-877-ShipCSX (1-877-744-7279) options 5, 6. Customers can sign up to automatically receive service advisory notifications on ShipCSX.
