CSX SERVICE BULLETIN - Week-Long Maintenance Curfew Scheduled for Key Routes

June 22, 2012 – CSX’s annual maintenance jamboree will take place Sunday, June 25 through Monday, July 2 on the key routes between Shelby, Ky. and Abbeville, S.C.; and Bostic, N.C. and Elmwood Junction, S.C. to Newberry, S.C.

The jamboree is an annual event in which about a year’s worth of maintenance and upgrades are compressed into one week to reduce customer impacts.

Reroutes are planned, and some limited operations will occur to service on-line customers.

CSX maintenance teams will focus on tracks, signals and bridges, and are expected to install 176,000 cross ties, 2,590 rail cars of rock ballast, 233,000 feet of mainline rail, with an additional 59,000 feet of rail within the Erwin, Tenn., yard.

A total of 10 bridges will be upgraded along with 255 rail-highway crossings. CSX has worked with local and area authorities to ensure that highway detours are available for those crossings that will be closed temporarily.

Customers with questions should contact the Customer Service Center via ShipCSX’s Problem Resolution tool or by calling 1-877-SHIPCSX, prompts 5, then 6.
