CSX Service Bulletin - CSX Updates Status of Hurricane Irene Impact

August 27, 2011 2 p.m. -- As Hurricane Irene makes her way up the East Coast, CSX continues to make preparations ahead of the storm and, where safe to do so, is inspecting tracks and signals in the Mid-Atlantic coastal region.

Service to customers behind the hurricane is expected to resume as conditions allow.

Materials including rock ballast have been positioned so that they could quickly be used if any repairs are necessary, and locomotives, rail cars and crossing gates were secured ahead of the storm.

CSX continued to be in close contact with passenger and commuter agencies, and intermodal and transload terminals in the path of the hurricane temporarily suspended activities. CSX Police officers are on standby for response to affected areas, and occupational health personnel are prepared with emergency medical supplies.

The company’s Customer Service Center will be coordinating with shippers and receivers on potential impacts to their facilities and on temporary changes, as required, in pickup and delivery schedules. Please contact the Customer Service Center via ShipCSX’s Problem Resolution tool or by calling 1-877-SHIPCSX, prompts 5, then 6.

Future storm updates will be posted to CSX.com, ShipCSX, and the company intranet, as well as on Facebook and Twitter.
