Customer Service Advisory

Released: Oct 28, 2008

CSX Transportation is complying with the Federal Railroad Administration's emergency order that prohibits railroad employees from using cell phones or other personal electronic devices while operating trains. The FRA emergency order, effective October 27, followed the investigation into the tragic collision last month in California between a freight train and a commuter train. CSXT has communicated the emergency order to its employees, and instructed train crews that personal cell phones must be turned off while operating trains, including preparation for movement and during switching operations. In the interest of safety and compliance, customers and other outside parties cannot contact train crews via cell phones or other personal electronic devices.

Customers can continue to use www.shipcsx.com to receive or communicate information about service needs, including shipment planning and tracing. Customers can ask for assistance electronically through the problem resolution tool that is located under the "Trace" tab, and the Customer Service Team is always available via phone at 1-877-ShipCSX (1-877-744-7279), prompt 5, then 6. Thank you for your business and supporting safety.
