Updated CSX Statement/Maryville, Tenn. - 5:00 p.m., July 6, 2015

CSX’s Community Outreach Center, located at 3737 East Lamar Alexander Parkway, will remain open through Friday, July 10 to meet the needs of residents and businesses affected by the July 1 derailment of a tank car in Maryville, Tenn. The Community Outreach Center’s extended hours are as follows:
 
Monday and Tuesday - 8:00 a.m. -  8:00 p.m.
Wednesday and Thursday - 12:00 p.m. -  8:00 p.m.
Friday - 12:00 p.m. -  5:00 p.m.
 
CSX personnel are available to address compensation as a result of the derailment and to answer any health and safety questions. Community members should bring photo identification, proof of address, receipts for costs incurred and an employer letter if seeking lost wages.   After the Community Outreach Center closes, residents can request an application for compensation by calling 1-877-TELLCSX (1-877-835-5279) or downloading an application at the following link.  CSX representatives will be available to assist community members until all needs are met.

At the derailment site, CSX has completed the majority of the excavation of impacted soils. The soils will be disposed of in an EPA approved landfill. At noon today, July 6, following track restoration and inspections, CSX resumed normal train operations through the area.  The car derailed in a train that was en route from Cincinnati, Ohio, to Waycross, Ga. It was one of 57 cars on the train, which was pulled by two locomotives. The investigation into the derailment continues in coordination with the Federal Railroad Administration.
