Trains Running at Lynchburg

CSX crews continue to make progress restoring the Lynchburg derailment site. Rail operations resumed just after 9 p.m. last night allowing some cars involved in the derailment to be re-railed and moved. Over the next day or two, product will be removed from the remaining cars. Once complete, those cars will then be moved out safely.

The company appreciates the patience of neighbors and businesses impacted, and is working closely with safety officials to secure the site and allow affected businesses to resume operations as soon as possible.

In coordination with federal, state and local environmental authorities, CSX also is continuing its comprehensive environmental assessment and protection effort. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is leading the investigation into the cause of the derailment on-scene. CSX is cooperating in this investigation.
