CSX Responds to Mid-Atlantic Earthquake

August 23, 2011

In the wake of today’s earthquake in the Mid-Atlantic region, CSX is working closely with passenger agencies and government officials, conducting broad based inspections, and reaching out to employees in the affected areas.

Already under way are inspections of track, signals, bridges and tunnels. The inspections are being done as quickly and thoroughly as possible.

Freight trains in the affected areas are operating at reduced speeds of 10-15 mph. Naturally, some delays in service are expected and we appreciate the patience of passengers and customers.

At this time, CSX has not received any reports of injuries or property damage.

Thank you for your dedication to safety, and updates will be posted as events warrant.
