CSX Responds to Maryland Train Accident - 8/23 Update

8/23 Update - CSX resumed train operations over its line in Ellicott City, Maryland, at 4 pm Thursday. CSX apologizes for the disruption and thanks the residents and merchants of Ellicott City for their understanding. The company is extremely grateful to all the first responders who are working with it in response to this tragedy. 

8/21 Posting - Two young women tragically lost their lives in a train accident this morning near Ellicott City, Maryland.  CSX wishes to offer its sincere condolences to their families.  The company is supporting the investigation of the site under the direction of the National Transportation Safety Board.  No other injuries are known at this time. 

At just after midnight, a train derailed on an overpass at Main Street in Ellicott City.  There were two locomotives and 80 loaded coal cars traveling from Grafton, West Virginia, to Baltimore, Maryland.  CSX is at the scene dedicating personnel and resources to working with the public emergency response officials, supporting community needs and assuring prompt, safe restoration of the area.
