Participants submitted surveys outlining specific policies for military service members and veterans involving recruiting, training and retention. Winners were chosen based on the strength and relevance of their programs.

CSX has a long-standing commitment to hiring America’s veterans and reservists – nearly one in five CSX employees has served in the military. In 2012, CSX plans to hire 1,000 veterans as part of its pledge to the White House's Joining Forces initiative, a national partnership to support America’s service members and their families.
