CSX to Provide Rail Service to New US Forged Rings Facility in Hertford County
March 3, 2026 – CSX is proud to support the newly announced US Forged Rings, Inc. production facility in Hertford County, North Carolina, by providing long haul rail service alongside our short line partner, the North Carolina & Virginia Railroad, to meet the company’s transportation needs. Governor Josh Stein announced the $875 million project on February 26, highlighting its potential to create 625 full time jobs during its first two phases.
US Forged Rings, a leading manufacturer of specialty steel products, will establish its facility adjacent to Nucor Steel’s Hertford County plant, leveraging supply chain partnerships and North Carolina’s robust transportation infrastructure. The company’s products, including critical service fabrications and industrial components, will play a vital role in power generation and other industries.
CSX Sales and Marketing representatives Casey Wagner, director of Metals Marketing, and Meghan Hennessy, regional manager of Site Design, joined the announcement event to celebrate this milestone. “CSX is excited to partner with US Forged Rings and support their operations with reliable, efficient rail service,” said Wagner. “Our network is well-positioned to connect their facility to key markets across the Eastern Seaboard and beyond.”
The project underscores the importance of collaboration between public and private sectors. CSX worked closely with the North Carolina Department of Commerce, the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina, and other stakeholders to ensure the success of this transformative initiative.
“CSX is committed to driving economic growth and supporting industries that strengthen America’s supply chain,” added Hennessy. “We look forward to playing a key role in US Forged Rings’ success and contributing to the prosperity of Hertford County.”
With its world-class rail network, CSX continues to connect businesses to opportunities, fostering growth and innovation across the communities it serves.
