Job Summary
Call and assign train crews for rail yard and over-the-road train operations.
Primary Activities and Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)
- Contact individual crew members and direct them to their assigned trains
- Complete reports, process data and perform other duties
- Communicate effectively by telephone, intercom, computer or other communication devices
- Work independently in a fast-paced, demanding environment
- Other duties as assigned by proper authority
- Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager
Pay Rate
Pay rate information is subject to change based on Collective Bargaining Agreement and, if applicable, may vary by location.
Training
A series of testing will be administered during five weeks of paid classroom training. You will be required to successfully attain a passing score of 90% during the training program. If unsuccessful, your employment will be terminated.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma/GED
- 18 years of age or older
- Valid Driver's License
- Computer literate using both mainframe and mid-tier computer applications
- Ability to type 25 average net words per minute
Preferred Qualifications
- One or more years of customer service and/or call center experience
Physical Requirements
- Sedentary - No lifting over 10 pounds
Job Requirements
- Work safely to prevent on the job accidents and injuries
- Work hours may include a nonstandard workweek
- Complete annual training and pass safety rules examinations
- Must successfully pass probationary
- Must pass all required assessments
- Must pass a background screening
- Must pass a post-offer medical examination, including a drug test
