Customer Service Advisory - CSX Recovery Efforts Remain in Place, but More Harsh Weather Expected

February 20, 2014

CSX continues to work through delays and other service issues resulting from the severe winter weather over the entire network. All special actions taken by the Operations Team, including re-deployed locomotives and relocated key personnel, remain in place.

Recovery on the network’s southern region is complete. However, a backlog of traffic remains in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions from last week’s winter storm, one of several that have impacted the network since December 1.

The CSX network’s western portion continues to work to recover from the harsh weather, and all railroads are working together to facilitate interchanges especially in Chicago and St. Louis. The recovery efforts continue to stress resources on the entire system.

A brief reprieve in the weather is expected for the next few days, and CSX is attempting to take every advantage of this period to improve fluidity of operations and service to our customers. However, additional severe winter weather is expected by early next week.

In the meantime, and as the winter weather persists, customers should continue to expect delays. Customers with questions about specific shipments can contact CSX Customer Service via www.shipcsx.com  or by calling 1-877-ShipCSX (1-877-744-7279) options 5, 6. Customers can also contact their customer service representative or local point of contact. CSX thanks all of its customers for their patience and understanding, and extends its gratitude to all of the employees working around the clock to restore normal service.
