CSX Customer Advisory - CSX Prepares for Winter Storm Jonas

Please be advised that CSX Transportation operations has initiated preparations for forecasted blizzard conditions from Winter Storm Jonas expected to impact the Appalachian and Mid-Atlantic regions tomorrow and through the weekend.  Delays should be expected throughout the weekend as conditions deteriorate.

To mitigate the impact of possible delays, all division operating departments are making tactical plan changes to proactively move as much freight ahead of the storm as possible.  Additionally, the Winter Action Plan includes, but not limited to, the following actions:

  • Snow desks will go online Friday, January 22nd to be staffed around the clock through the duration of the storm.
  • Equipment and generators have been relocated to specific areas expected to be impacted.
  • Extra locomotives are being moved to areas expected to be impacted to assist in recovery.
  • Snow removal contractors have been contacted and are standing by at all intermodal ramps across the rail network from Charlotte, NC to New England. 

CSX is working with customers to best accommodate requests in anticipation of the storm.  As always, our first priority is the safety of our employees as we serve the needs of our customers in the communities where we operate.
