Midwest Conditions Affecting Rail Service
Released: Jun 17, 2008
Dear Customer:
As flood waters have begun to recede, the Union Pacific (UP) situation is improving. While Chicago interchange traffic is still under an embargo, their operation is becoming more fluid. The UP has increased the number of Embargo Permits today from 200 to 500.
Customers wishing to transport embargoed traffic are encouraged to apply for a permit via the Union Pacific web site at the attached links:
Embargo page: http://www.uprr.com/customers/embargo/list.shtml
Permit application: http://www.uprr.com/customers/embargo/permit_request.shtml
To view specific details, we suggest that you visit the web sites of all railroads that affect your shipments for the most up-to-date service bulletins, as all are experiencing changing operational capability under these extreme conditions.
