Update on Princeton, IN Derailment - 6/19/18

10:30 A.M. UPDATE:

CSX continues to work closely with local, state and federal officials at the site of Sunday evening’s derailment in Princeton, IN.  Overnight and throughout the day today, crews made significant progress removing the damaged, derailed cars and cleaning up debris. CSX specialists will work with the fire department to safely extinguish the remaining propane fire today.  Simultaneously, crews will continue to make the necessary track repairs to restore train service in the area.  While there is no timeline for the completion of the clean-up work, CSX and its contractors will work around the clock, as safely as possible, to finish the restoration efforts.

Residents and businesses affected by the evacuation are encouraged to visit www.csx.com/response to submit inconvenience expenses associated with the evacuation for review and processing.  Residents must submit a copy of the following in order to complete your reimbursement application:

  • Driver’s license or other identification
  • Proof of residency (current utility bill)
  • Receipts for expenses (hotel bill, food receipt)
  • Proof of lost earnings (note from employer)

CSX appreciates the continued support and partnership of the Princeton Fire Department, Indiana State Police, American Red Cross and local first responders as we work to fully restore this area and investigate the cause of the derailment.
