CSX Updates Status of Storm Recovery

August 30, 3 p.m. – Significant progress is being made in the restoration of freight rail service on storm-impacted areas of CSX.  Employees have been working around the clock to clear debris, inspect infrastructure, make repairs, reposition locomotives, and restore power.

The Mid-Atlantic region is moving closer to full service while more limited operations continue in the Northeast, largely due to washouts of track segments west of Selkirk, N.Y. and on the lines between Albany and New York City.

In some areas of the CSX network, generators are still being used to power signals and crossing devices until commercial electricity is restored.

Intermodal terminals are open across the CSX network, as are TRANSFLO facilities. However, intermodal service in the Northeast is still limited and delayed as trains are held up or take longer re-routes.

Service to the export piers in Newport News has resumed, and the company’s Curtis Bay export pier re-opened Sunday.

Customers should contact the Customer Service Center via ShipCSX’s Problem Resolution tool or by calling 1-877-SHIPCSX, prompts 5, then 6.  Intermodal customers should contact customer service at 1-800-542-2754 or a sales representative.

Future storm updates will be posted to CSX.com, ShipCSX, and the company intranet, as well as on Facebook and Twitter.
