CSX Resumes Service North of Spruce Pine, NC

January 31, 2025 – CSX has resumed operations north of Spruce Pine, North Carolina, on the Blue Ridge Subdivision—a critical step forward in recovery efforts following the impact of Hurricane Helene. This milestone, initiated mid-January, highlights the dedication, teamwork, and resilience of our CSX employees, who are working tirelessly to overcome challenges while prioritizing safety and service.

The return of operations, though limited for now, is making a difference for local customers and communities. One key partner, The Quartz Company in Spruce Pine, is already benefiting from restored service. “Seeing our trains back in motion north of Spruce Pine demonstrates the strength and determination of our team,” said Manager of Train Operations David Snyder. "This recovery is deeply significant—not just for meeting our customers' needs, but for showing our communities that we are committed to being there for them, even when the toughest challenges try to stop us in our tracks.”
