Charles Rollins Receives Industry Recognition for Engineering Leadership

March 29, 2022 – Every team needs an effective leader, and Charles Rollins knows that effective leadership begins with an engaged team.

Rollins’ ability to connect with employees and bring out their best has been the key to his success as a CSX Communications & Signals leader and, most recently, to earning recognition as one of Railway Track & Structures Magazine 10 up-and-coming engineering leaders under age 40. The magazine’s annual 10-under-40 list recognizes individuals who are making notable contributions to railroad engineering early in their careers.

Since joining CSX after graduating from Florida A&M University 10 years ago, Rollins has been relentless in learning the technical side of the railroad while developing the leadership skills to elevate performance everywhere he has been assigned. Rising from a signals manager to his current position as director of Communications and Signals for the entire Georgia Zone, Rollins has consistently led his teams to deliver improved signal system reliability.

Rollins inspires buy-in from his team through his knowledge of the work and his calm, competent leadership that instills confidence and strengthens teamwork. He has successfully overseen operationally challenging signal cutovers as well as multiple large-scale track structure improvement projects. His track record of success and unquestionable ethics have earned him respect across all departments and crafts.

Congratulations to Rollins for his well-deserved recognition as a Railway Track & Structures 10-under-40 honoree.
