Employee-led Business Resource Groups
Celebrating diversity, building community and fostering business transformation
Diversity and inclusion are essential to the innovation and employee engagement that drive CSX’s success. We promote a culture in which people of varied backgrounds and life experiences value each other’s contributions and support each other’s growth. Our mission is to foster an environment where we all employees feel connected, are provided with opportunities to thrive and have the tools to help lead transformation — not only for CSX, but for our industry.
CSX railroaders are LEADERS. Our employee-led business resource groups empower employees to connect with peers and company executives, and to build a community of support, trust and advocacy. They provide career development, networking and mentorship opportunities, while also hosting activities that promote community engagement and cultural awareness. Plus, with executive and company sponsorship, the groups play an important role in advising CSX business units and leading community investment initiatives across our 20,000-mile network.
At CSX, we are proud to have five business resource groups helping our company and employees thrive. Learn how each group helps support and shape our value-driven employee culture.
ABLE Disability Inclusion Group
Representing employees with physical and intellectual disabilities, the ABLE Disability Inclusion Group drives internal awareness and collaborates with CSX business partners to design, develop and build accessible and inclusive services and offerings for employees and customers. It also helps facilitate more-inclusive CSX business practices and facility enhancements.
African American Inclusion Group (AAIG)
Founded in 2003 as the first CSX-sponsored employee business resource group, the African American Inclusion Group focuses on three pillars: community outreach, professional development and networking. The AAIG’s mission is to support CSX's vision and values, and to recommend strategies for creating a culture that embraces inclusion and promotes African American representation in our company and industry.
Asian Professionals for Excellence (APEX)
Representing more than 15 ethnicity groups, the Asian Professionals for Excellence group seeks to promote stronger working relationships between Asian and non-Asian employees through cultural education and networking events. APEX focuses on building a strong Asian community within CSX, so that all members feel supported, and on helping educate CSX’s diverse workforce on the vast Asian culture. The group also serves as both a company and community advocate for recruiting and promoting Asian American talent to CSX’s workforce and its partners in business and the community.
Interchange Women’s Leadership Network
Our Women’s Leadership Network actively helps to retain and develop women by fostering supportive professional relationships among women at CSX. The group creates forums to engage the broader organization in conversations on career and leadership development that resonate both universally and for aspiring women leaders. The group also advocates for creating a sustainable pathway for women in leadership and works closely with other business resource groups to advocate for more-inclusive business practices.
Our LGBTQ+A(llies) group focuses on advocacy, education, policy and community outreach in support of the LGBTQ+ community. The group partners with community advocacy groups on focused initiatives to support open dialogue, acceptance and support for LGBTQ+ employees at CSX and in the communities in which we live and serve.
Military Business Resource Group
Our Military Business Resource Group is committed to honoring and supporting our nation’s veterans, active duty military and their families. The group works in partnership with the company’s signature community investment program, CSX Pride in Service, to support community outreach. The Military BRG also provides a forum for idea sharing and helping attract strong talent to our workforce, and an internal community that’s focused on deepening the family connection – making sure that when our colleagues are deployed, their loved ones have the care and support they need.
STEAM Business Resource Group
The STEAM business resource group is focused on sparking interest in technology and innovation amongst all employees. It supports science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) education initiatives and organizations. STEAM provides career and professional development resources for employees in the arts and STEM-related careers at CSX. STEAM's activities actively promote diversity by removing barriers, fostering ideas through education and development, and supporting community programs.
