CSX Railroaders give back to community, recognized by Chicago Tribune

CSX transports freight, including building supplies, paint and other construction equipment all across the eastern U.S. During a recent day of service at Jungman Elementary, CSX railroaders, community members and volunteers used the goods that CSX routinely ships to deliver a helping hand and make a difference in a community in which the railroad operates.

Partnering with Action for Healthy Kids, over 70 volunteers participated in a variety of service activities included building a new walking path, constructing a hanging garden, installing new storage and making updates in the gym, as well as painting a giant chess board, four square courts and hopscotch areas in the playground to promote active play during recess.

The service day was recently covered in the Chicago Tribune, highlighting CSX’s involvement with Action for Healthy Kids in making a difference in the lives of students in Chicago.  >> Read the full Chicago Tribune article
