Hyundai Announces New Electric Vehicle Plant Served by CSX Short Line Partner

May 24, 2022 – Hyundai Motor Group has chosen a Georgia site served by a CSX short line partner for the company’s first facility dedicated to the manufacture of electric vehicles and batteries.

To be built on the Bryan County Megasite just west of Savannah, the $5.5 billion plant is expected to produce up to 300,000 Kia brand electric vehicles a year when it becomes fully operational in 2025. CSX assisted in marketing the site, which is located on the Georgia Central Railroad. The Georgia Central connects to CSX in Savannah.
