CSX Receives National Defense Transportation Association Service Award

November 19, 2021 – The National Defense Transportation Association (NDTA) presented CSX with a Corporate Distinguished Service Award at its 19th Fall Meeting in mid October. CSX was the only railroad among the 38 companies to receive the award, which recognizes corporate members that have provided outstanding service to NDTA’s goals and programs.

“The NDTA brings together government, military and private sector leaders to share ideas that strengthen our national defense and homeland security, so receiving its Distinguished Service Award is a tremendous honor for all of us at CSX,” said Arthur Adams, senior vice president of Sales.

Arthur commended the hard work of CSX employees Joe Forkum, Janet Hicks, Dan Labyak and Casey Wagner, who support the company’s military customers, as well as the entire Operating team that contributes to the safe and reliable transportation of military loads that often require special handling.

The award is significant for CSX because transporting defense equipment and supplies is an important part of the company’s business, but it is also has special meaning for company employees who have strong ties to military service. More than 3,000 CSX employees are veterans or active duty members of the military, and many more employees and their families participate in CSX Pride in Service community activities that support the nation’s military community.

Since World War II, the NDTA has supported U.S. national defense and homeland security by creating a trusted environment for government, military and private sector professionals to come together to solve pressing challenges in the fields of logistics, transportation and passenger travel services.
