CSX Diversity, Inclusion and Engagement Annual Report Highlights Workforce 'Powered by Diversity'

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – October 26, 2015 – CSX Corporation (NYSE: CSX) recently released the company’s second Diversity, Inclusion and Engagement Annual Report, Powered by Diversity, which highlights an increasingly diverse workforce that is driving innovation across the company.

“Diversity has never been more important to CSX, and its role in our company’s journey over the past year is a testament to that,” said Michael J. Ward, chairman and chief executive officer. “Our diversity, inclusion and engagement initiatives brought out the best in our employees, whose extraordinary teamwork elevated our performance, helped us overcome challenges and created innovative solutions.”

The report shows that CSX has continued to increase the number of women and minorities in its workforce, while creating opportunities for military veterans and people with disabilities. In 2014, 35 percent of management new hires were women and 27 percent of all new employees had military experience. In addition, minorities made up 21 percent of CSX management employees in 2014.

To support a more inclusive workplace for people with disabilities, the company launched a Count Me In campaign in which all employees were asked to voluntarily self-identify disabilities. The campaign was created to help CSX gain a more complete picture of the number and types of disabilities represented in its workforce. The company plans to use the aggregated information to inform and strengthen diversity, inclusion and engagement programs throughout CSX.

Guided by the CSX Executive Inclusion Council and supported by inclusion groups, which includes business and employee resource groups, CSX received multiple awards and recognitions for 2014, including:
