What is ShipCSX?
ShipCSX is our secure web application suite that helps CSX customers plan, ship, trace and pay for shipments quickly and efficiently, with secure data that is customer and company specific. (ShipCSX provides essential tools for industry-leading electronic communications, data exchange operations and real-time reporting services in the transportation industry.) Learn more.
How do I get a User ID and Password for ShipCSX?
Complete the ShipCSX registration. Once it has been processed, an eBusiness representative will contact you to set up any training.
How do I go about conducting transactions with CSX?
To get information and manage the day-to-day business transactions necessary for shipping by rail, we recommend using electronic transaction tools. Read about transactions and the tools available at CSX.
Do I have to apply for credit with CSX?
CSX requires all customers who are responsible for freight bills to apply for credit. This policy applies to shippers, receivers and third parties. CSX's credit terms are 15 days, which begin with the date of the freight bill and end with the payment due date. Fill out the credit application and follow the instructions to submit.
How do I know if rail will work at my facility?
Our Service Start-up team can help make sure that your facility is rail served and your track is serviceable, and that CSX serves your location and can meet your service needs. Contact the Service Start-up team member in your area.
What if I am not located on rail? How can I take advantage of the economies of shipping by rail?
If you don't have direct access to tracks, then intermodal service, TRANSFLO or warehousing may be a solution.
How do I apply for a job or submit my resume?
To be considered for any position, you must create a profile through the CSX website. Mailed and emailed resumes will not be considered. To apply for a position at CSX, please follow the steps below.

How can I get a price quote from CSX?
If you are not a current CSX customer but would like pricing information, contact our New Business Development team at [email protected].
If you're already a customer, log in to the ShipCSX Price Lookup tool to get a price for a specific general merchandise move. You can search by origin, destination and commodity to find the price for your specific shipping requirements.
Can I purchase property with rail access?
Our Industrial Development team maintains a list of more than 3,000 available rail-served sites. They will help you purchase or locate a business at a rail-served facility. Learn more.
Do you have any cabooses for sale?
CSX uses a small number of cabooses as converted shoving platforms; however, we are continually re-evaluating our fleet and may consider selling some of the cabooses from time to time. Please email [email protected] with your inquiry.
Can I purchase scrap ties for landscaping?
CSX generally does not sell scrap materials directly to the general public. We have contracts with several companies that handle our scrap-removal services. If you wish to purchase scrap ties, contact National Salvage and Service Corporation at 800-769-8437.
How do I buy or lease railroad land?

How can I buy an old railroad building or structure?
The railroad considers public safety and that of its employees to be paramount concerns and must consider the risks related to these concerns in any conveyance of a railroad building or structure. The railroad, therefore, requires that any building or structure situated within 50 feet of the centerline of an operating track be removed – at no cost to the railroad – from railroad land and relocated to non-railroad-owned land.
How do I obtain permission to go on to railroad land?
