June 11, 2024 - CSX is proud to announce that it has been named to the Forbes Net Zero Leaders list for the second consecutive year. This prestigious recognition underscores the company’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and its efforts to significantly reduce its carbon footprint.
“We are honored by Forbes’ acknowledgment of our dedication to environmental stewardship,” said Bryan Tucker, vice president of Stakeholder Engagement and Sustainability for CSX. “This recognition is a testament to the effort our entire team is putting forth in adopting innovative technologies and operating practices that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, enhance fuel efficiency, and promote sustainable supply chain operations.”
The Forbes Net Zero Leaders list highlights 100 companies that are making significant strides in mitigating or offsetting pollution from their own activities, as well as those of their suppliers and customers. The selection process is rigorous and includes public U.S. organizations with a market valuation of at least $1 billion.
Forbes developed the criteria used to create this list, drawing on raw data from leading research firms Sustainalytics and Morningstar. The publication evaluated factors such as each company's climate governance, strategy, and risk management capabilities; as well as how each company’s financial health and competitive edge enable them to overcome industry challenges and economic downturns.
CSX is recognized as an environmental leader in the freight transportation industry. Among its accolades, the company was recently acknowledged by USA TODAY as one of America’s Climate Leaders. CSX has also been part of the Dow Jones North America Sustainability Index for 13 consecutive years, based on its sustainability performance and other factors.
