May 18, 2022 – CSX has been ranked among the 100 Best Corporate Citizens of 2022 — and number one in the transportation industry — by 3BL Media.

The ranking recognizes outstanding environmental, social and governance (ESG) transparency and performance among the companies in the Russell 1000 Index, which is made up of the 1,000 largest publicly traded U.S. companies.

The annual analysis is performed by ISS ESG, a leading provider of corporate governance and responsible investment solutions, using a methodology developed by 3BL Media, which has been publishing the Best Corporate Citizens list since 2009.

CSX is the top-ranking transportation company on the 2022 list, appearing ahead of American Airlines and Union Pacific Railroad, which were second and third, respectively. Overall, CSX ranks 64th, having earned top 100 scores in the categories of climate change, ESG performance, governance, financial, stakeholders and society.

Other recent recognitions received by CSX have included the 2021 CDP “A List” of companies taking action to address climate change, the 2021 Dow Jones Sustainability Index North America and the Climate Leadership Award from the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions and The Climate Registry.
