CSX Inspires Students at Second Annual Innovation Day

April 21, 2025 – CSX partnered with Twin Lakes Academy Middle School in Jacksonville, Florida, to host the second annual CSX Innovation Day, a vibrant event designed to inspire curiosity and creativity in the next generation of innovators. Focused on showcasing how Fortune 500 companies like CSX use technology to move supply chains, the day offered middle school students a hands-on look at the power of innovation in action.

"I cannot find one word to express the gratitude and the depth of my appreciation for this relationship with CSX," said Aurelia Williams, principal of Twin Lakes Academy.

The event featured dynamic, interactive activities that brought technology and engineering to life. Students explored hands-on coding sessions, experienced the thrill of drone flybys, and even met CSX’s robotic dog, real-world examples of how the company is leveraging advanced technology to transform the transportation and logistics industry.

“As kids today grow up surrounded by technology, it’s second nature to them,” said Gary Eppinger, CSX’s vice president of technology and chief information security officer. “They don’t think about a traditional 197-year-old company and how we’re using technology each and every day to deliver products across the United States. This event helps them connect the dots and see technology in a whole new way.”

The spirit of collaboration was a key element of the day. Dave Rich, vice president of IT strategy, architecture, and governance, emphasized the importance of teamwork behind the scenes. “ONE CSX isn’t just a phrase,” he said. “It’s a commitment that our teams truly believe in, live in, and carry out every single day, and events like this highlight how we come together to inspire and engage with our communities.”
