July 12, 2023 – CSX has been recognized as one of America’s “Best Places to Work for Disability Inclusion” for the fifth consecutive year, earning a top score on the Disability Equality Index (DEI) created by Disability:IN and the American Association of People with Disabilities.
The 2023 announcement marked the second consecutive year that CSX has achieved a 100 score on the DEI comprehensive benchmarking tool.
“CSX continues to build a strong culture of inclusion that focuses on creating a workplace where employees are valued, appreciated and recognized for their abilities and their unique experiences and perspectives that contribute to our success,” said Stephanie Noel, vice president of Human Resources and chief diversity officer. “We’re honored to be recognized by Disability:IN and the American Association of People with Disabilities, whose visionary leadership is opening doors across corporate America.”
The DEI rates companies’ disability inclusion performance in eight categories, including culture; leadership; enterprise-wide access; benefits; recruitment employment, education, retention and advancement; and accommodations.
Building on advances that have included providing access upgrades to facilities, supporting an employee-driven ABLE Business Resource Group, and assigning dedicated recruiters for diversity and military job candidates, CSX has recently increased emphasis on strengthening enterprise-wide digital accessibility and accommodations. In addition to providing accommodations for digital access, the company supports employees and customers through accessibility within its intranet and external websites.
“Among its many roles, the ABLE Business Resource Group raises awareness of opportunities for improving support for people with all types of disabilities — both within the company and in the community,” said Michael Burns, CSX vice present and general counsel and executive sponsor of the ABLE group. “At the same time, we offer our members the support of a community of peers and provide leadership for CSX’s community engagement activities.”
