CSX Continues Leadership in Supplier Engagement on Emissions Reduction

CSX has again been named to the annual CDP Supplier Engagement Leaderboard, which recognizes companies at the forefront of working with suppliers to reduce emissions across the value chain.

Already a member of the CDP global “A” list for environmental transparency and action, CSX joins the top 8 percent of companies who engaged suppliers on climate change issues in 2021. CSX was one of 15 transportation services companies among the more than 500 organizations worldwide to earn recognition.

CDP, a global environmental non-profit group, determines companies’ Supplier Engagement Rating (SER) based on their policies and actions related to governance, targets, emissions and value chain engagement.

Engaging with suppliers is a critical part of global efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, CDP says. Its data show that a company’s supply chain emissions are 11.4 times greater on average than operational emissions.

“By engaging their suppliers on climate change, [Leaderboard companies] are playing a crucial role in the transition towards the net-zero sustainable economy,” CDP states.
