April 29, 2024 – CSX collaborated with students from William M. Raines High School in Jacksonville, Florida for a hackathon. Held in April, the fun technology programming event showcased the students' creativity and innovation as they tackled real-world business challenges head-on.
The event was co-presented by the CSX STEAM Business Resource Group (BRG) and CSX African American Inclusion Group as part of the company’s commitment to innovation and nurturing future generations.
“We express our deepest appreciation to our esteemed partners AHEAD, Auditmacs, Fortinet, and CompNova for their generous support. Their contributions provided laptops for students and teachers, essential technology resources for classrooms, and gift cards for teams who demonstrated the most innovative solutions. These gestures not only enriched the event but also equipped participants with tools to further their educational journeys,” said Dave Rich, CSX Vice President of IT Strategy, Architecture and Governance and the Executive Sponsor of the CSX STEAM BRG.
The hackathon epitomized CSX's company culture, demonstrating a commitment to community engagement and reinforcing the impact of collective support for a shared goal.
“We extend a special thank you to all of the volunteers, mentors, and contributors who supported this event,” said Tammi McGriff, CSX Senior Manager of Customer Solutions and Chair of Community Outreach and Membership for the CSX African American Inclusion Group. “This experience was a great opportunity to showcase the talent that we have right here in our local community and to embrace our ONE CSX culture.”
