Edmond L. Harris
Executive Vice President
Edmond Harris, a 50-year industry veteran, joined CSX in January 2018. He is currently Executive Vice President, with operations and executive responsibilities that include oversight of several key functional areas, including safety, performance metrics and operational planning.
Harris previously served as Executive Vice President of Operations, with responsibility for mechanical, engineering, transportation and network operations. His experience includes nearly a decade of working alongside the late E. Hunter Harrison and current CSX President and Chief Executive Officer James M. Foote during the implementation of the Scheduled Railroading model on the Canadian National Railway (CN).
Harris began his railroad career in 1968 on the Illinois Central Railroad, which was acquired by the CN in 1998. He continued to serve in progressively more senior roles on the CN, reaching the position of Executive Vice President of Operations prior to his retirement from the company in 2007. Harris subsequently served as an independent rail operations consultant, providing advice to North American railroads including CSX, CN, Canadian Pacific Railway and Genessee & Wyoming, as well as advising various rail shippers and Global Infrastructure Partners, an infrastructure investment fund. From 2010 to 2011, Harris served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operations Officer of the Canadian Pacific Railway and later provided train operations consulting services to the company.
Harris earned a bachelor's degree in business management from the University of Illinois and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1969 to 1973.
