Awards and Recognition

We're proud to be nationally recognized by several organizations and publications for our ongoing dedication to excellence, best practices and a diverse workforce. Here are some recent awards CSX has received:

G.I. Jobs magazine has once again recognized CSX as one of the top 100 Military-Friendly Employers since 2006. CSX was evaluated on their efforts to recruit from the military,  percentage of new hires with prior military service, and policies toward National Guard and Reserve service members called to active duty. Community involvement and veteran promotional programs were also considered. CSX validates military support by providing the difference in pay between the employee's job and military pay, continuation of health care and other benefits, and providing support to the families of CSX employees while on military orders. CSX truly values Guard/Reserve and all former military employees. CSX is currently #2 on the Top 100 List for 2013, and has placed in the top 10 the past five years.

The Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) has named CSX Corporation the recipient of the 2012 Distinguished Service Award, a recognition of CSX's continued emphasis on hiring and supporting active duty and veteran men and women.

CSX was honored with the 20ll Disability Matters Workforce Award. This award is in consideration of a company’s programs/initiatives that touch on recruiting, training, reasonable accommodations and the Americans with Disabilities Act. The award recognizes how recruiting programs are targeted and how they are integrated across the enterprise. Training is evaluated on whether it is mandatory or optional and for whom is it delivered. The Workforce Award honorees are also evaluated on the purpose of the programs, how they tie to a company’s overall mission/vision as well as how they connect to the overall HR/Workforce plan.

DiversityInc. is the leading publication on corporate diversity. The annual DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity competition, now in its ninth year, is an editorial process driven by metrics obtained in a detailed survey. Members of the Select 50 Diversity Employers of Choice declare their commitment to hiring candidates from a diverse range of backgrounds because they understand the power of varied perspectives. 

CivilianJobs.com Most Valuable Employers
The CivilianJobs.com Most Valuable Employers (MVE) for Military 2011 was open to all U.S.-based companies. The winners and finalists were selected based on surveys in which employers outlined their 2011 recruiting, training and retention plans that best serve military service members and veterans. CSX has been selected to this list since 2008.

Top 25 Diversity Council Honors Award
The Association of Diversity Councils recognized the top 25 organizational diversity councils in the United States with the First Annual Diversity Council Honors Award. The award recognizes and honors the outstanding contributions and achievements of the nation's top 25 diversity council groups that lead diversity processes in their organizations and have demonstrated results in their workforce, workplace and marketplace.

Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve (ESGR)
CSX Transportation has been recognized by Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve on several occasions for supporting CSX employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve. ESGR is a Defense Department organization that promotes cooperation and understanding between Reserve component members and their civilian employers. CSX is the 2011 recipient of the ESGR's highest award, “Freedom Award”, this is the second time CSX has been named as a Freedom Award Winner, CSX was also named in 1998.  CSX is the ONLY company in the nation that has won two “Freedom Awards”. CSX also was named the 2011 Florida’s winner of the "Pro Patria" Award; this is the highest state employer award and is awarded for exceptional support for our national defense, hiring and support of the Guard and Reserve military members in Florida. CSX has also earned the "Above and Beyond Award" and the "Patriot Award" for outstanding and consistent support of members of the National Guard and Reserve.

Florida National Guard (FNG)
CSX has been named to the Florida National Guards “Ring of Honor” since 2008, because CSX supports all state “Yellow Ribbon” events, which welcome Guard members back home after overseas deployments.  CSX offers career opportunities, resume and interview guidance for returning troops. 
 

AMVETS (American Veterans)
CSX Transportation was named the 2010 AMVETS Employer of the Year.  CSX was recognized due to commitment of hiring of former military members and support of programs that help military transition to civilian life.  

American Legion 2008/2009 National Military Employer of the Year
CSX received awards from the American Legion as Military Employer of the Year nationally in 2008 and 2009, and for the state of Florida in 2008. The award recognizes employers who have provided superior military friendly employment related programs and policies that are above what is normally required by the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA) and other Veteran law.

 

VFW 2008 Employer of the Year: National and Statewide Winner
The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) honored CSX Transportation for exceptional employment, hiring and support of former and current military employees and families. CSX employees called to active duty receive the difference in pay between their CSX job and military pay, continuation of health care and other benefits, and support for their families while on orders. CSX also employs a military recruiting team that specializes in sourcing candidates and providing information and support to all veterans.

 

Diversity MBA logoIn 2011, Diversity MBA Magazine named CSX 12th among the top 50 companies that make a strategic effort to implement programs for managers of diverse backgrounds to excel and develop into the executive ranks. This recognition focuses on the development of emerging leaders and includes recruitment, continuing education, networking opportunities and professional development.

 

 

Black MBA Magazine logoThe Black MBA Magazine put CSX on its Top Companies for Black MBAs to Work list in 2007. The magazine identified CSX as a company that seeks to hire, develop and retain African American MBAs as a valuable part of their business environment. The magazine also examines whether companies have a minority and post secondary degree succession plan. CSX is proud to be recognized by the Black MBA Magazine for its ongoing commitment to a diverse workforce.

CollegeGrad.com logoCollege Grad.com has recognized CSX as one of the Top 500 Entry Level Employers for 2007. College Grad.com is the #1 entry-level job site on the Internet and the leader in the field of entry-level job search. It has been conducting the Top Entry Level Employers Survey for the past six years. The site offers resources including resume templates, career and employer research information, interview tips, and job search videos. After conducting a series of surveys throughout the year on entry level college employment, College Grad.com named CSX a top entry level employer for college graduates.

For the past 4 years, Hispanic Business Magazine has included CSX in its Diversity Elite directory of the 60 best companies in our country for efforts promoting diversity and providing career opportunities for Hispanics. CSX will be spotlighted in the Hispanic Business magazine and recognized as an outstanding company of commitment to Hispanic hiring, promotion, diversity goals, philanthropy, and marketing.
