Mechanical Operations Management Trainee

The Mechanical Operations Department is responsible for the maintenance, repair, servicing and inspection of CSX-owned and/or operated locomotives and equipment. Major fixed plant installations include: Selkirk, N.Y.; Cumberland, Md.; Raceland, Ky.; Huntington, W.Va.; Corbin, Ky.; Waycross, Ga.; Tampa, Fla.; and Grand Rapids, Mich. Smaller operations including car, track and locomotive repair and service exist in all states in which CSX operates.

Upon successful completion of the training program, the Mechanical Management Trainee will be placed in an entry-level management position directly responsible for contract employees at one of CSX Transportation's field mechanical operations locations. Additional management and technical training will be provided on a continuing/as required basis.

Requirements:

 At minimum,  either a high school diploma with three or more years of experience required in Rail Operations, the Military, Skilled Trades (building/construction, electrical, mechanical), or an Associates degree in Business, Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering with one or more years of experience required in Rail Operations, Skilled Trades (building/construction, electrical, mechanical), or the Military.

Mechanical/Electrical Operations background is strongly preferred. Applicants should demonstrate a record of leadership, project execution, problem-solving and communication skills. Candidates must also be willing to relocate. This position calls for flexibility to work weekends, holidays, swing shifts, evenings and on-call duty, as well as the use of protective gear, including hard-hat and steel-toed boots.
