Intermodal Management Trainee

Intermodal is a multi-modal form of transportation that uses rail, ocean vessels and trucks to efficiently move consumer goods in containers and trailers through the domestic and international supply chain Intermodal focuses on operations and customer relationship management.

The Intermodal Management Trainee will focus on developing customer relationships, building management skills, industry expertise and leadership skills in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment staffed with over 300 professionals.

The training period is approximately six months. Two weeks of initial orientation are followed by six months of rotational assignments at Intermodal terminals on the CSX network that focus on incorporating service, on-time performance, equipment and the strategic approach to meeting the customer needs.

Intermodal Management Trainee duties and responsibilities include:

• Perform duties and responsibilities related to a managerial/supervisory field position.
• Perform duties and responsibilities required to support day-to-day intermodal terminal facility operations.
• Work collaboratively with other departments including vendors/contractors in support of intermodal operations.
• Conduct equipment and terminal facility safety inspections.
• Prepare written documentation in support of terminal operations.
  

Requirements:

A Bachelor's degree in Transportation and Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management,  Business/Finance, and or Economics is required. Applicants should demonstrate a record of leadership, project execution, problem solving and communication skills.

After successful completion of the program, trainees will be placed in a full-time, entry-level operations management position.

This position calls for relocation, flexibility to work weekends, holidays, swing shifts, evenings as well as the use of protective gear, including hard-hat and steel-toed boots.
