April 18th - Systemwide Blitz

April 2012 - National Drug and Alcohol Awareness Month

The Month of April brings many things to mind such as: Spring, Mowing, Rain, Mowing again, Allergies, and Baseball, but most of us do not realize that April is also known as the National Drug and Alcohol Awareness Month.

Nearly 14 million Americans that is one in every thirteen adults abuse alcohol or are alcoholics. That is staggering considering that the odds of the conductor/engineer or other employee that you will work with this month may very well be struggling with this disease.

The final preparations are under way for the April 18 system wide blitz for National Drug and Alcohol Awareness Month. Last year there were 15 terminals across the entire system that participated. This year we have doubled that. Start making preparations now on locations, times and topics to be discussed as well as total number of team members to be involved. The week of April 9 final instructions regarding the Blitz will be emailed to the participating Team Captains.
