Contractor Information

CSXT has provided contractor requirements to the facility owner.
However, if the facility owner is requiring the contractor to handle the scheduling, please ensure you do the following:

  • Obtain the Outside Party Number Request Form from the facility owner.
  • Send in any additional plans/drawings to the GEC
  • Safety training
  • Along with any additional contractor requirements stipulated in the agreement between CSXT and the facility owner.
  • Please schedule the project through the CSX Property Portal. Please allow thirty (30) days for project scheduling. Protection Services (protection services/construction managers) cannot be expedited, as it is dependent on the availability of CSXT Maintenance of Way workers. CSXT’s protection services coordinator will secure the protection services and/or inspector necessary for the project.
  • The protection services coordinator will be your first point-of-contact when you send the outside party form.
  • Working in Canada
    • Get special instructions if working in Ontario or Quebec: English version (PDF) (updated 10-29-2015)
More information:

Q. Will the Contractor need to apply for a “Right of Entry” permit before starting construction?  If so, are there any fees associated with this?

A. No. Once the agreement has been executed, an outside party form will be sent with the executed agreement.

Q. Will the Contractor need to procure their own “Railroad Protective Policy” similar to the one the Town or City is paying for? Or are they covered by the Town’s or City’s policy?

A. The Town is paying a risk fee for the PROJECT to be put on CSXT’s blanket policy. Only one risk fee or policy is required. The risk fee or policy is in effect until the PROJECT has been completed.

A. Yes

Q. Does the Contractor’s work force need any special certifications, trainings, etc. in order to work on the site?

A. Yes. See safety training in the permitting information.

Q. Will there be a mandatory kick-off meeting with CSX’s stakeholders?

A. No

Q. Will protection services/construction managers (all subgrade installations) be required? If so, what is the cost and who pays for that?

A. See the permitting information page.

Q. Will any sort of force account need to be set up for costs incurred during construction?

A. No. Protection services etc. will be billed after the project has been completed, approximately 30 days after completion.
